Week 8's topic was to "Identify and post the website of a web 2.0 tool that you think you may use or have used to support effective learning in your classroom and outside of your classroom".

Explanation: "In this connected world there are many web 2.0 software tools available. What tools would you consider having in your tool belt to support your students in learning in your classroom or even outside of your classroom where more and more learning is taking place".

Our group wanted to share with you all a web 2.0 Administrative tool called Jupiter Grades. It helps school administrators to manage staff and student data and allows teachers to be more productive in managing their classrooms.

What's great about this software is that it is an all-in-one information management system that is scalable. The basic functions are free and additional tools are priced to fit a schools needs. Since it is web based and allows for mobile access, the  software company helps to manage the security and maintenance work of the website and data, such as backing up of data, and upgrading he software which would save the school time and money.

The website is located at http://jupitergrades.com and it is feature rich with functionality and  tools for administrators, teachers, parents, and students. This includes, seating charts, attendance, lunch count and menus, discipline logs, grade tracking, lesson plan sharing, rubric tools, newsletters (with Spanish translation), calender/events, online tests, online homework and submission, textbook tracking, and various integrated reports that can be printed out.

Check it out, you can even watch the demo video here http://jupitergrades.com/about/demo.php and as one of our group member likes to say, "It is beast and the bomb"!
